Great week! Look ahead...

Thank you to the many parents who joined us for Curriculum Night last Monday and Wednesday night! Here are few pictures which highlight student activities last week. This is a sample of the photos with many more available on our Shutterfly page. The password to the shutterfly page was sent in the Thursday EDLINE e-mail. Please let me know if you are not receiving the EDLINE weekly e-mail.

I hope to see you Wednesday night at the PTO picnic.

Thank you,
Mr. Sprung

Helping hands at Birch Meadow!

Thanks to the Wilcox, Fuleihan, Heroux, Malley, and Coram families, along with Dave Lyons and Ken Young. These families helped clean the mulch run off near the rock wall. The run off occured due to heavy rain from IRENE.

A before and after picture of added railroad ties and clean up of area around the rock wall. The additional railroad ties will hopefully limit run-off in the future.

Teacher Day 1

On their first day Birch Meadow Staff participated in a project based on the book DRIVE by Daniel Pink. The staff watched the two videos below. Each video is approximately 2 minutes in length.

DRIVE - What's your sentence?

Sample sentences

They then created their own sentences which you may see displayed in the hallways. Some sample sentences created by staff include:

"She brought her love of learning to others."
"She cared and loved all."
"She loved and shared music, laughter, fun, and the joy of learning."
"She helped others discover new interests and become excited about learning."
"He always took the time to listen and care."

It was a great excercise highlighting the committment and dedication of Birch Meadow teachers.
